And, most important of all, every triton boat is designed and built with your complete safety in mind. wood-free composite construction. most fiberglass fishing boats are built with wood in such strategic areas as the stringer system, transom, deck and floor. over time, wood can rot, leading to structural failures.. Re: what boats don't have wood in the hull? what year was your glastron? they mostly eliminated wood when they started their vec construction. i believe this was in 2001, any glastron with a vec logo has no wood in the hull, stringers, floors or transom.. Pontoon boat & deck boat forum. open and honest pontoon boat discussion. do they make pontoon boats without wood decks?? heck, there actually isn't a bit of wood on my boat at all. bad thing is, they don't make beachcombers anymore, to my knowledge..
So what’s the final verdict? it’s hard for any fiberglass boat to beat that classic look and feel of a varnished mahogany boat. but it’s hard for a wooden boat to be the multisport vehicle a modern fiberglass model can be. wood has come a long way, baby, but it’s still going to require more maintenance than fiberglass.. Depends on years and models. xpress boats are wood free to at least the 2000 era. my 2002 lowe 180w i use to have was wood free. the triton magnums , 176, 186, and 197 were wood free back in early 2000s. not sure what other models but as far as used boats go.. Does anyone know which boats are all composite(no wood). first time boat buyer.
